Message: I have the book "Just the facts" by Lev Alburt. Its a good book to study the endgame phase of the game. When I read it, I don't even have to get a board and set up the discussed position. It has sufficient diagram in order for the reader to retain the position inside his head. It highlights the technique by short phrases and points out the most basic position that the reader should know at each Chapter.

Message: Subscribe to www.cdos.serveftp.org for free and download the game called 'Bobby Fischer Teaches Chess', also for free. It introduces the basics of back rank mates, and the ways to get there. It also has a few hundred (yes, hundred) of Fischer's games to spectate, and a decent AI to play chess with. You can request to remove your account on cdos after you got the game.

Message: is one of my favorite authors. His endgame book is superb. However, it is a light intermediate text. Dvoretsky is a teacher of MASTERS. That means, you should be a master already. Pandolfini is for beginners, rating less than 1400. For those who find Pandolfini delightful, but hard to apply in actual play, I have written an endgame book which is even simpler. I concentrate ONLY on the bare essentials, going into considerable depth, even on the most basic ideas. My methodology is geared for memory. The text is written for players rated 600-1200.
Happi, my suggestion is Pandolfini's Endgame Course or my book, Practical Endgame Weapons, Volumn One. Email me, if interested.
The most important aspect of endgame study is whether you can apply it. Always remember that principle.
