Subject: Judith Polgar?

Message:
Does anyone know of any judith Polgar books available? A collection of her games would be good, preferably with pictures:)

"The Polgar Sisters, Training or Genius"

Message:
Is the book I have regarding the 3 Polgars. Author: Cathy Forbes, Publisher:Henry Holt and Co.
It is a "Batsford Chess Library" book, and mine says Copyright 1992. In truth I would not recommend the book, unless you are absolutely desperate for some games. It did have some interesting games, but too few, and are all dated now of course.
The sisters did their fair share, by playing the games. But there is little if any analysis coming directly from them. Instead you must suffer the Author's. And in my opinion, the Author ruins the book with a continuing harangue of unfounded, aor poorly considered if not irrational seeming, remarks, many with little or nothing to do with Chess theory or praxis; weak analytical ability, and insufficient use of reference to related games or alternative lines.; in my opinion. To me there just seems nothing particularly recommendable other than the game moves themselves.
The sisters do play some wonderful and exciting Chess though.
The price shown on my copy is $16.95.

There is an apparently Dutch book called "De Polgar Zusters" Ed van Eeaden(Nijgh & van Ditmar), which I can tell you nothing else about, except that it was also published prior to 1993.

Go ahead and take away my posting privelages too, but I have to say that taking away divinesuncat's over such a trifle is nonsense. Hasn't the webmaster ever encountered English wit before?

I'm not about to judge divine_sun_cat, but I have a 12 year old on my team, I think if we were all at the chess club the kids would be visible and everyone would behave accordingly. the kids are here also, you just can't see them.

Ditto Umpito

Message:
Protecting 12 y/o boys from innocuous comments about naked pictures is hardly a reason to ban someone (who knows if that was Mike's thinking; perhaps he thought it could be seen as sexist). Re-read the original post; it all but demanded the joke. Divine is a frequent contributor to the forums and a well-known presence on GK who shouldn't have been banned over such a harmless and obviously tongue-in-cheek quip. Just one opinion.

Sorry, chris21 for not answering your question, which I don't know the answer to.

Well, we're really OT now but...
What a world we would live in if the mentioning of a naked body were something new to a 12 year old!

Ok, someone post here when the publish a book on JP and her games.

It is evident from the profile photo of divine_sun_cat that he was still in a state of slumber when he responded in the way he did...i would hope that his "unprofessional" comment would be overlooked this time and he be given his posting privileges back...besides, it was awfully funny as well as it caught so many by surprise~

Why was divine sun cat suspended? He was just making a harmless joke...people are too paranoid these days. A bit of humour never harmed anyone.

Thanks fmgaijin! Sounds like what i'm after I'm off to have a look at it now.

I wasn't trying to get anyone banned by the way. I admire Judit Polgars play and after going through a game of hers against Shirov where she left her queen hanging because it couldn't be taken I am interested in going through some of her games. My comment at the end of my first post about pictures was just a little light hearted fun. I do think she's quite an attractive woman but I wasn't trying to bait anyone/get them banned.

I did not find divine_sun_cat's comment offensive, my comment was an attempt to get some of you to take a broader view. Consider the fact that GK has members of both sexes, all ages from dozen's of countries. I can think of several groups right here in the USA that would find comments like that objectionable because of their religous beliefs. when you enter this forum you recieve this warning:

Warning: this forum is for discussions related to the game of Chess only. Any off-topic posts will result in immediate revocation of forum posting privileges.

You me and alot of others have wandered off-topic many times but never in that direction.
