I recommend....

Message:
....for White 1.h4, and for Black 1...h5, which can be played against any opening move by White and prevents the dangerous 2.g4. ;)

That would be a massive task...

Message:
...even at the basic level you suggest. I think a good place to look would be www.ex.ac.uk/~dregis/DR/openings.html. In fact, the whole of that site is very useful.

Boy oh boy

Have you got a difficult task ahead of you. A preaty good site is chessgames.com, if you're looking for something good and worthwhile, but the problem is that all you get are statistics. An also good site if you're looking for a quick repertoire with the hassel of main lines is Tony Kosten's chesspublishing.com. The lines are explained, otherwise that's all that's going for it.

kris_kross ...

Message:
No, the Latvian only refutes 2. Nf3.
That is why White plays 1.e4 e5 2.g4! so much.

I should start playing that right after I give up on 1.g4 followed by 2.f3.
