 Subject: Have a lookMessage: Try and look at this: gameknot.com/chess.pl?bd=1787122 My opponent refuses to resign. And he even made me a draw offer on move 68. when I had a clearly won position!! I told him what I thought about that. In big words!! And now he has startet to stall the game. Shows a lack of good sportsmanship, IMO. It�s going to be a looong game, I�m afraid, if he will keep on to mate (sic!!) |

Message: .....to continue to the death if he wishes. personally, I prefer to resign rather than play on for the sheer hell of it, unless I can see some chances to catch my opponent out. Unfortunately, if you complain to a player for continuing to play, they are almost sure not to resign then - if one of my opponents told me I should resign, I would consider him out of order. I would have no sympathy for him if i continued the game. I think the biggest problem in the game mentioned, is that you were offered a draw by a player in a clearly lost position (naughty IMO), but still within the players rights. Best thing to do is to just play your moves, win the game, and don't worry about it - concentrate on your other games. Cheers Chris |

I took a glance at that board and thought, "Well, White's got a king and rook but Black seems to have a nice bundle of pawns, maybe Black could win/draw?" I'm sure that if you say it's a "clearly won position" for White, that's correct. I'm apalling in the end game and I have very little idea about what's won and what is lost. I'm only 1600 to your much-more! But maybe it's not so clear for everyone, and you will have to prove it over the board before they also think so? :) ~ Stephen / pandemona |

This has elicited several (innocent) comments and analyses on the game in play, which clearly contravenes the correspondence code of conduct. It's a trap, really--we read the post, follow the link, form our own judgments, and then at that point it's hard not to share them, even in subconsciously made hints. I think it would be best for all to save this kind of commentary for after the game, or at least keep the game reference to yourself. |

I can understand the frustration of chees, but I disagree with you display the reference to the board. If you believe that your opponent, has violate the rules of GK, you should contact the Webmaster directly. If you mean that your opponent is stalling the game without good reason, put him/her on your ignore list and stop playing them again, I have several such players, on my No Play List! Message: for I've not viewed that board# & so have not even any idea if we speak of 20 or 2 pawns (yet, and if I do, I won't comment any more, ). But what pandemona says about the comparative knowlege of different players, and endgame skills (didn't study em myself till making Expert, as a diliberate choice.) makes a lot of sense. Perhaps a player sends a Draw Offer to Determine if You, much higher rated, feel it worth playing on. Whether testing You (do you know if you are winning??! chuckle.....for we all know there's been a GM who blew his N+B mate :) (or to take advantage of your knowlege to tell him if you're worried about losing? or know its drawn? or not? whatever he can get from it) seem like fair game. DOES he know the position? Who knows. Just trying to be the peacemaker. Actually I do shy from a game thats going to take 100 moves on a 14 day TC or such. On the otherhand, pesky particulars... If I found he was undefeated & 34 wins vs lower rated players. I can see a player holding on like you're his Waterloo. (as said, I didnt look here, even profile) But Good Skill to both of you,and the truth shall be known. As we say; entitled to play to mate! (which seems kinda like, "entitled to pump iron till you get a hernia!" too. if one wants 8-)) |
| muppyman 7/27/2004 17:48:29 [ report this post ] | my worry Message: my worry would be that by posting the position you may have given your opponent an opportunity to lay a complaint of site rule breaching and perhaps even try to claim the game. That would be far more painful than playing the game out to it's rightful conclusion and then making sure you never play this member again. It's a potential danger well worth avoiding in my opinion. |

So please DON�T make any comments about the game itself. I only wanted others point of view about the fact that my opponent keeps playing on in this for me totally won position. |
