 Subject: TimeMessage: I play chess only here in internet. As I could see here, games go over days, even weeks or months. So players have a lot of time to think of their next move. How is this in reality? How much time per move do professionals think and how long usually takes one game? How about club players? And: is this longer "thinking time" related with the quality of a game? Or is there already no improving effect anymore when time goes up from ten minutes to one hour or one day? For me it very much depends, if I'm really interested in the game, because it's very interesting, in an opening I care about a lot then I'll invest at least as much into each move as I would in a long time control game OTB. In a lot of other games I only occasionally use more than a minute for a move, somehow I take most of the games here less seriously than the "official" correspondence chess games I play (for those I have on occasionas really invested hours into a move), whyever that is. |

I have played Correspondence Chess in the US Chess Federation for about 47 years and just now started in the ICCF. Yes, I for one take CC seriously. Chuck |
