 Subject: retractionMessage: I retract all the nice things I said about Joop winning the world championship, until it becomes clear exactly how much help he had from Piket and other Dutch grandmasters. The fact that Piket has exactly 0 games in the databases from 2003 and 2004, after being extremely active before shows the potential for abuse in correspondence chess at the highest levels. How many players can afford to hire a gaggle of grandmasters? And if they have the money, how many would hire them - if I had Joop's money I would purchase big boats and old whiskey instead - and make my own moves. |
