Subject: Nimzo Indian Defense is too good!
Message: How do you get your average Nimzo Indian player out of book, at leawst to give white some attacking advantage or initiative.
Nimzo Indian Defense
1.d4 Nf6 2.c4 e6 3.Nc3 Bb4
I've tried 4.Qc2, 4.Qb3, 4.a3, 4.e3, 4.Bg5 all of which at some time or another prove to be unsatisfactory.
The main problems I find are
- as white my king side can develop fast enough
- the c4,d4 pawns are less of a central shield than they ought to be, they seem to be more of a liability.
- Black castles early, there goes any hope of an early pin or attack.
- Black seems to be able to overload attacks on pieces better than I can... my mobility is rubbish here as white?

Message: the Nimzo_indian is much too solid for that. Try the 4.a3 line, followed by e3, f3 and a quick e4. Not necessarily in this order, but depending on black's reaction ofcourse. In combination with Bd3 and Nge2-g3 eventually.
This way you should at least get some center control.
If you don't like this line for white I suggest you switch to Queens-Indian as white by playing 3.Nf3 instead of 3.Nc3.
