Subject: Interesting?
Message: Nah, probably not, maybe I just need a new hobby :)
I did an experiment: I'm a very mediocre player, my rating fluctuating between 13-1400. Now, if you look at the highest ranked player I've beaten, then look at the highest ranked player he's beaten and so on, there are only 5 players between me and the rating 2000.
I have no idea if this means anything, just thought it was cool, and I would have guessed that number would have been higher.

Message: I just checked how many it would be for me, using your method... you'll never guess... INFINITE!
I ended up in a never-ending loop, with player A who had beaten player B as his strongest opponent, and player B who had beaten player A as HIS strongest opponent... and both were below 2000. :)

The highest player I have beaten won against a 18xx rated player by timeout and that player is now rated at about 1300

Message: I find that the situation you describe is more common OTB.
But anyway, if you beat a genuinely higher-rated player, it doesn't mean you will beat him all the time. Perhaps in 1 out of 5 games. That person might beat a higher-rated player in say 1 out of 5 games too. If we go six times this way, your chance of beating the 2000-rated player would be one in 5^6. And of course it could be higher than 5 too.
I once saw a club player (~1700) draw a master (~2300). It doesn't mean much statistically although it was a very interesting game anyhow:)
