Subject: Smothered mate...

I know that a smothered mate is supossed to be done with a knight. I have done that feat twice in my life, but this game board #360375 looked so much like a smothered mate that i wonder can it be called one also?

this was with two knights. even if he takes with 20.Rxf2,then the other knight comes and Black mates. this can be a good example..

What was the ratings? and yes that is a smothered. cause black must of been total beginner cause d5 in the philidor's defense...horrid and then the queenside push is just plain retarded.

1431 for me and 1404 for him. It was a very short game with major defensive mistakes which is why I attempted the knight sacrifice for hopes of another blunder.

I don't believe he was 1404 rating cause if you play like that at the fourteen hundred or so level (and that's like already national master and tuff with FIDE <world chess federation www.fide.com>) he must suck big time.

I don't see why you should be making fun of someone who is rated higher than you. It seems ironic that you say he stinks when he has proved by his rating that he plays better than you.
