Cool!

Message:
So if I screw up a move I get to go back in time and take it back? Does time appear to move slower the faster I move my pieces? What about relativity? If I'm playing on a space ship that is approaching the speed of light, do I get less time on my chess clock?

;-)

ok let me clarify

Message:
Time in this varitaitions is move
So move 1 is a pint in time and move two is the next point in time.

You can in a sense undo a move. If you move a piece back in time and change it that way. You can bring pieces from the future(is possible to have two queens that way). Think of time and anthor aspect of the game.

To any one intrested I will submit a complete rules list.

And matt I was not assumed by the space ship joke
Seious questions only please

Dave

Just some ...

Message:
... good natured ribbing. Sorry you were not *amused. I meant no offense. Just the whole idea of "temporal chess" brings ideas of quantum physics and Einsteinian relativity to mind! :-)

Good luck with your temporal chess.

Hmm...

Message:
I'm not sure how this differs from traditional chess? After all, you DO play in the time dimension also, and time plays a significant part when you have the clock running. In a very real way, chess with time limits is always "temporal".

more clarifaction

Message:
Temparal has notihing to do with time per move or per gmae

Say you queen is in danger and there is not safe place to move it. You can move it into the future say to move 40 when move 40 gets here you have your queen back. Or you can go back in time and capture the threateing piece before is capture you queen. Or you can bring anthor piece from the future and block the attcking piece.

Just as in regular chess you have ranks and files in temporal you have time. as well

Tommorow when I have more time I'll post an expample game and make I website with more of rules explaianation

Message:
Does this mean you can temporarily rmove any piece from the board...then bring it back later on? How useful would it be to take off your King to avoid checkmate eh?
Or am I mis-understanding ?

close

Blackbaron

You are close but the king can't move out of check temporaly and one king must remain one the board at all times. But you got the right Idea I will post a complete rules list later on

Dave

After reading this thread for a few days...

Message:
I find this very interesting. So we can bring pieces from the future or past, and send pieces in the future or past?

I would appreciate more clarifications and a complete move list before showing further interest.
