Message: Maybe starting a topic where we all can type some chess-quotes from famous players ?
In particular, I'm searcing a quote about some guy who was talking about playing against God.. He would win with white, but draw with black, or something like that ? I thought it was Fischer who said something like that, but I can't find it anywhere..
“Only the player with the initiative has the right to attack”
(Wilhelm Steinitz)
“The winner of the game is the player who makes the next-to-last mistake”
(Savielly Tartakover)

Message: It was, I believe, one of the older masters, possibly Chigorin or someone like that, and I think he said words like "Not even God could give me the odds of pawn and move, and expect to beat me"

"The refutation of a gambit frequently lies in its acceptance."

"When I have the White pieces, I win because I have the White pieces;
when I have the Black pieces, I win because I am Bogolyubov". (E. Bogolyubov).
"A gambit is an opening in which you sacrifice material for the sake of getting a lost game" (S. Tarrasch, I think).
"The mistakes are all there, just waiting to be made!" (S. Tartakower).
"I welcome the opportunity once more of becoming ex-World Champion" Mikhail Tal, upon winning the World Blitz Championship in the early 1980s.
