Yes,

Message:
but the new feature does have a new feature. The +/- number between the two piece counts was added today or so.

Question -

Message:
How does the capture of promoted Queens etc. affect the count of the score of captured pieces ??

this is a nice stat, not more then this -- i remember game where i was down to two pawns, rook and knight against 5 pawns, both rooks, bishop and knight and chekmated my opponent because his king was in the corner blocked by rook.

this is a nice stat but if you base your game only on this stat -- come play me, i want some easy rating points :)

Why?

Message:
Not to be the perennial naysayer ... but why do we need the +/- stat? It's not like it takes complex math to figure out that if yr opponent has 12 and you have 8, you are (drumroll, please) -4. Can it be optional?

Having registered a complaint, I feel obliged to point out that this is the most kick a** chess site on the entire web . . . and that's saying something.

Actually

Message:
I may be wrong, but the difference value is not always simple math. The two numbers next to the pieces are the total of captured peces. The number between them is the difference of the pieces remaining on the board. A piece promotion would make the difference number change in relationship to the taken pieces.
I think the difference number was probably added after the comments on piece promotions were made.
And, as with any imporvement, some will like it, some will find it useful, and other will think it is bad.

Zoo

Message:
I know he updated it, I was trying to explain the update to achillesheel since they made the assumption that the +/- was captured pieces.

Message:
You are right. I just promoted in a game where off-the-board counts are at +10, but on-board is +18. Thanks for pointing that out. With that said, I still find the feature annoying. Actually, I find the entire notion of piece-counting annoying and potentially misleading---that's just me, I can see why others might like it. This is why I would suggest that it be optional. But at least the +/- feature is not as inane as I thought it to be. Thx for correcting me on it. Now it is a touch more bearable.
