Personally I will never accept or challenge him again. I hope this example, will cause other players to serious consider, before they start new games and the number of games they start. It is very annoying to play people, with this bad attitude towards the game. There is not a competion in here to whom can start and play most games at the time. Even though you only play few games, you can still participate in the Forums and also send PM's to your friends. I have completed almost 1,100 games in less than one year. No timeouts. The difference is I take this serious, and he does not. I do strongly recommend that before anyone accepts a challange, they look at the opponents profile. I always check to see if they know wnen to resign, and I check their timeout history. Mike does a great job helping us decide tho NOT to play. |

You know when I posted in the "postponement thread..." well this is Precisely what I was refering to. In fact exactly one of the accounts I was looking over, when i cited the potential for abuse there. The way you and the poster there were speaking of postponement use was not my concern. It is like this. Now take this situation and allow 60 day timeouts instead. Then he could have made it worse thusly. PP for 60 days. Make the 1 or 2 moves needed to reach 2 weeks. Then postpone again for 60. Do it again then if the yearly was increased too from 120 to 180?!. So playing at a ratee of less than 6 or 10 moves every 6 months, he could also have decided, lets go ahead and play all the bad poiitions out to Mate also. Keep turning in any wins of course to flex the old rating up. (Or maybe thats already been done. So the PP'g is to keep it up there as long s possible before yeilding any losses.) Of course some of the "losses" PP'd will, in the meantime, turn to wins because of players that Died, quit GK, had their server belly-up, or just Got Fed Up and blew off the game by resigning, timing out, or offering a draw in a won position. Does ANYONE REALLY want to play 102 move game to Mate at an avg rate of 1 or 2 moves a Month ????? I don't know this player at all, or just what his situation or motives may be, and make no such suggestions. But just that Looking at the Account is what set off the "Warning Bells" to my mind, about the potentials for abuse in such a situation. So PTL this example showed up so timely. |

But since GK is Mike, I guess the way it is works. In many prior threads there are many people who believe that there should be no postponements allowed at all. "There are Internet Cafe's everywhere" type of thinking. I actually had someone tell me that if someone is in the hospital thaty should get a laptop to keep their games going....AND THEY WERE NOT KIDDING! My suggestion has always been to do away with all automatic postponements. No holidays, no weekends, and allow the individual person to manage 100 days for a paid member and 60 days for an unpaid. The number looks huge, but they are actually less than we get now when you add in the 52 weekend days, week for thanksgiving, 2 weeks for Xmas..... Still limit the number of consecutive days, but not limit the time between postponements. That way if someone wants to take every weekend, OK, and someone else wants to play through the weekend, that is fine also. Also as I have stated earlier, there will always be a few that abuse any system, but it is not right to write rules that hurts the vast majority because of a few idiots. Everyone has one or two stories, but they also have finished hundreds of games. The percentage of abusers ir REALLY low. |

By loosing to enybody per time or in any way, he does not effect any ratings in negative way... and as a matter of fact he could play and win against any of you at any given time, I know that some of you will will think that above statement is far from the truth, please don't be offended by it. Let him be, do not judge him, or say anything bad about him, he left this site because of people that had acussed him of cheating time and time again, people that kept loosing to him and basically being mad about it... For us that was not the issue. Take a look at my last game that I had going with him and you can see what my concerns were. The game was lost in December but he was postponing and playing other games and taking forever to move in a totally lost position. I am sure that there are others with the same complaint. This was my gripe and I heard the same from some of my team mates and other members. Signing up for 200+ games then quitting them is not good for this or any site. This last go around was not the first time. He did it before. It DOES hurt everyone on this site when people take on so many games then quit them. No one has the right to disrespect someone by calling them a cheat. If anyone did that to him then they were wrong. Neither does he have the right to take on so many games and stall, postpone and disrespect his opponents by using their time that they spend here like TRASH. If Felix remained on this site that would not be a problem for me. I had already made up my mind never to play him or accept a challenge with him as part of that challenge. Your claim that he could play any of us and beat us is your opinion. I can tell you this. After this latest bout of timeouts if he had stayed I really do not believe he would have ever played another higher rated player again. Not because we think he was cheating. I have not heard that said by anyone. But because he was a poor sport and had no respect for his opponents time. Chuck |

I still work at the same job, live in the same house. I have not been able to cash those points in for a better life. We play this site for enjoyment. It is not fun to play someone who postpones his games as much as Felix did. Take a look at my challange game with Felix. I was up strongly in position with a material equality. It would have been a fun game to finish. Felix leaving deprived me of that enjoyment. That is why I have hard feelings. Nothing to do with ratings. And no, I did not think at any time that Felix cheated. |

If so, then I would find that highly offensive. More than anything he may or may not have done with a Chess Board. .... I looked his games over, with a view to a possible Challenge game. But noticed certain situations where his games would appear to just "freeze" there. I never said he cheated either. Some might point to the "rating manipulation" Rules, or perhaps their "spirit", to disagree with that though. And couldnt be called crazy. I certainly felt the account had great abuse POTENTIAL. To where I did not wish to risk playing. Even though it was a close call, thinking we could have some interesting conversation if his vocation be true. (So is it?) Had I played, and it was untrue, then I feel that Would have been a loss & harm to me. A game entered under false pretenses. .... I would say that the conclusion I reached is that he may have placed great inconvenience on some of his opponents & thus I did not want to become one. (Even though I appreciate his apparent "play all comers" attitude as a sporting one otherwise. Perhaps even kindly. In the right circumstances.) And a positive view, at least in timingout without notice or farewell, at least he did not drag them all out to Mate in One first or such. As he might have if he were going to be spiteful. ..... Therefore I would assume that something very serious must stand in his way to make him do what he did.
