Subject: Number of games that can be played at once
Message: Why has the number of games that non paying members can play at the same time been reduced from 40 to 20??
Are GameKnot trying to get rid of all non paying members???
If so can THEY tell us of another site where we will be welcomed to play!!!

Message: It used to be 40. Now they have changed it to 20, I think over the night. Gameknot is no longer the best chesssite on the web for nonpayingmembers

Message: Actually, the limit was set at 20 games since December 2002, and we've been effectively "grandfathering" all users registered on GameKnot before that date for over a year now...

Message: I have checked out many of the other sites. I have not found any better to non-payers. Most limit to 6 games, non-rated, and no tourneys. Have you found any different?
The reason I ask is I would love to find a site to "freeload" now that I am taking GK serious, I would love a site to play very fast games tht blunders do not matter to me.

Message: i love gameknot anyway.... maybe this 20-game limitation will make me look longer and harder at my moves. 20 games is enough for me.
it's a bit strange for life-time members, though, i think - to reduce their max games if you previously state "ok pay your fee, then you are a member for life"...
but i guess that is the risk you take with internet things.
maybe i shouldn't say anything, though, since i am a non-paying member and some people seem to think non-payers deserve no voice at all.

I do not think anything was reduced for lifetime members or any members
that continue their membership without lapse. At least that is the
way I understand it.
Even if I understand it wrong, I am a lifetime member with plenty
to keep me busy here on GK. I do not feel I have lost a thing.

Message: umm... sorry. i think you are right, and i read the details wrong. the new max games is there for yearly memberships.
and i'm sorry about my last sentence from that post too. probably only directed at one person, and it shouldn't be brought up here.

Message: It doesn't have nearly as many features as GameKnot but you can observe time limited games. You can select the games you want to watch on the basis of rating of players. You can also play in real time eg 3 mins - I was slaughtered - or 20 mins and the game has to be completed in 20 mins.
