Subject: Question about Minitournaments
Message: I have been reading thru the rules as well as FAQ, but I couldn't find anything about the following:
a) If I start a Minitournament, why is it that I can't choose the range of rating lower than 2350 and higher than 2950?
Best wishes

Message: I noticed this when I created the Tournament of Pawns a couple of days ago. I'm guessing that the rating limit of a mini tourney has to center somewhere around your own rating, to help limit it to players that more closely match you.

Message: Hello,
The rating system is based on a premise that a rating difference of 400 points means practically a certain win. So to ensure a fair selection of players in a mini-tournament, you can only select a
rating range within 300 points of your. You can also start an unrated mini-tournament, in which case you'll be able to invite anyone you like regardless of their rating.
Best regards,
Mike, webmaster of GameKnot.com
That is also in accordance with unacanta's answer above!
