I'll second that!

Message:
As it stands, it seems somewhat of a joke to me. A lot of people seem to retiring after a loss to get into a lower class, then winning games for more points. Or something like that.

don't know where you got that from but

Message:
I'm not joking about this. Long time ago we criticized this a few times already.
Especially the point, that when you climb into a higher league (or opp. dropped in lower), you'll only get 0.5 points for the same game for a win but get deducted with 2 points for the loss and even if you draw, you'll still lose a 0.5!
We msg'd mike about this in the past and his response was basically that it's to pretend others to climb too high in the league.
Trust me, it's not the point system, just makes it harder, 150 games at the same time is tough...
We think that you should get regardless from the division 1 point for the win and 1 point for the loss. And a 0.5 for a draw.
I would suggest something like: make the divisions smaller, like 10 players each, close them and then let the players play against each other in MT style. The top two climb up and the last two go down.
Something like that... This is just an idea from me, not a resolution.
The point is that some changes have to be made to make the league more attractive.

very_bad_player it's not my sense of humor, it was a project to prove that the point system as is, doesn't prevent other to climb up all the way.

I know that there are so many players out there who think the same, I got so many support msg's and suggestions, so please if you think that something has to change in the league system, then please post it together with your suggestions how YOU would do it.

Point-System is fine.

Message:
I also think the system with 2 points for a win against a player in a higher division (and the rest of this special point rules) is allright, though not necessary for all means.

But: Now its finally proven, that you shouldnt be allowed to play more than a total of perhaps 15 league matches in a row. The idea of closing the league to play a RR is great, but this could take a year to finish one league season. An Idea might be to use Fischer clock, have a maximum playing time of lets say 6 month and not finished matches are estimated after this. We have discussed this over and over an dover again and not so much happend. Result is: League is losing its value. I personally dont care about the league anymore - tournaments are again much more important.

Best,

drdesoto

Right!

Message:
there is nothing wrong with the point-system in the league.... The real problem is that people can apparently play unlimited league games! Lets take kai_sim as an example here: He's playing "only" 41 league games at the moment and has gone from division D3 to B3 (soon B2) in a 2-3 months time! If that doesn't ridicule the whole league as it is then I don't know what it does....

VBP

Hello,

20 is the absolute maximum number of league games you can play, I'm
afraid you cannot set it to unlimited. Since the more league games you
play the more points you can win, this is designed to prevent a
single player from dominating a league division by playing too many
games at the same time.

mike
there was a time when i had 150 games (not all league, but most) at the same time

VBP
the system is like that to prevent others from climbing up too high.
now you tell me again, that there is nothing wrong with it.
also, i didn't climb up the league to offend anyone. i wanted to make a point. we need makeover for the league to make it real nice, and i know that we all together can help mike to think it over.

drdesoto
why didn't no one else had that idea with fischer time? yes, max of six months sounds good, then you would have 2 promotions/demotions per year. also a real league system and not some "snatch as many points/games as you can" thing.

Climbing too high?

Message:
How about falling too low? Once you climb you are playing 4-1 ratio. You have to win 4 games to get two points, but you lose one game and lose 2 points. I have had as many as 75 league games going at one time. 20 is only the limit to be challanged. You can challange at any number if you are a payng member.

What I want to know...

Message:
How and why do supposedly *good* players (over 1500) get way down into the lower league divisions?

Message:
true, but if you were a paying member and stopped, they do not kick you out of the leagues. Also the rule change is fairly new, so many non paying members are grandfathered into leagues.

I think that is a question you could answer yourself if you look at their games history.

Different players would have different circumstances. Another thing you would want to look at is their ELO rating. see if they piled up their rating points beating much lower rated players. That would reflect in a much lower ELO rating than a GK rating.
