Individual ability to limit his team games

Message:
Dear member of Vlad's Impalers,

There is now a new preference mechanism that allows you to limit the number of team games in which you are actively participating. Go to your preferences area and you can set your team games from 2 to 20 (in even number games) or unlimited. It has a default for 10. I ask you to go and set your personal limit NOW. From now on, it will be your responsibility to make sure the limit is set properly.Remember if you let your default to remain, then you be included in 10 games.
In the past, I have attempted to determine limit for each member, but that has been a problem.
The preference limit presently has two flaws. To take care of those flaws, please send me a message. It does not deal with the situation where you cannot handle any games (i.e., you want your game limit at 0) at present. And it does not allow you to set a number between 20 and unlimited. If either of these situations applies to you, please let me know.
Remember please set your preferences NOW. And let me know if your game limit is 0 or somewhere from 22 but less than unlimited. And please try to be available for at least 2 games.

Pete

Another Future Grandmaster Falls

Message:
Cairo just defeated a future grandmaster, masterakobian, when taking white in a French Defense, Marshall Variation. Akopian was apparently trying a lesser used varition on Soren.
Well done, Cairo!

Congratulations Soren

Message:
After studying the game and the 'Soren Variation', I think black never will play c5 in its third move after Nc3.
Rest of the game is played perfectly keeping the pawn-treasure in d6.

Congrats to V. Akobian for to be a 'gentleman'.

Great-Great game. I have kept it.

Carlos

Thank

Message:
you very much for your nice words Team-mates.
I did a home analyse on the variation and carlosmart is "spot on" with his comment, my gameplan was build on the passed pawn at d6, therefore my 12th move Bf4! which I think is new, only other move I know of is 12.Nb5.
I totally agree of masterakobian being a gentleman and I have my hands full in the other game, which I think I need a bit of luck not to loose.

Best wishes
Cairo

My head is reeling! . . .

Message:
Once again Vlad's Impalers have struck home at GK's future grandmaster, masterakobian. Allkarlos, playing white, defeated masterakobian in 42 moves in a French, Winawer, Advance variation, in the positional main line. It was a close game. On behalf of Vlad's Impalers, I extend to masterakobian our thankds for his team and him playing us in two challenges.

Congratulations allkarlos. You have done your team well.

Pete

Sad Tasks

Message:
Today, I reluctantly decided to remove Mimi (schachfruend) and jh13 from the team's active status because of their extended absences and unlikely return to the team. Both have been sent messages to let them know that, if they do return, they will quickly be back on the team.

Welcome to Lazar

Message:
Please all welcome our newest teammate, Lazar, lazar6001. He is a 55 year old (youngster) Italian dentist. He has a wife and 19 year old son who is a law student. (For some reason, his son prefers basketball to chess.)
Lazar began playing at 16 and continued until 24 when he had reached Candidato Maestro by FSI (the Italian Chess Federation). Unfortunately, life got in the way of chess -- things like finishing his university and working. He managed to stay away for 25 years before returning in 1998. Finally he got his Fide rating and now has a rating of 2180.
Lazar is currently undefeated at GK, and just recently had a draw with carlosmart.

Welcome aboard, Lazar! Tell us a little more about yourself.
